APPLESAUCE CAKE

INGREDIENTS:
½ cup butter (or other fat)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup applesauce
1 cup chopped raisins
2¼ cups sifted pastry or cake flour
½ tsp [baking] soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cream butter and sugar; add applesauce [and set aside]. Mix raisins with ¼ cup of the flour [and set aside]; sift the rest with the soda, baking powder, spices and salt. Add dry ingredients to [wet] mixture and [stir] just enough to blend thoroughly. Add raisins [the same way]. Pour into greased, 8-inch-square pan and bake [at] 325°F, for about 1 hour.
