HOT COCOA MIX

By Gloria Pitzer, as seen in… Gloria Pitzer’s Cookbook – Best Of The Recipe Detective (Balboa Press; Jan. 2018, p. 266) [A revised reprint of Gloria Pitzer’s Better Cookery Cookbook (Secret RecipesTM, St. Clair, MI; May 1983, 3rd Edition).]

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups non-fat, dry, milk powder

1/3 cup unsweetened, cocoa powder

¾ cup sugar

Dash of salt

2 TB non-dairy creamer powder

INSTRUCTIONS:

Combine milk and cocoa powders with sugar and salt. Add creamer powder. Sift the mixture 4 or 5 times. Store in a tightly covered container at room temperature. Keeps up to 2 months. Makes over 3 cups of mix [for 17 servings (see below)].

TO USE THE MIX:

Place 3 tablespoons of mix in 8-ounce cup. Stir in 6 ounces boiling water, a little at a time, until well-blended and smooth. Add a large marshmallow to float on top. Makes 1 serving.
