CAT FOOD, HOMEMADE
By Gloria Pitzer, as seen in… The Original 200 Plus Secret Recipes© Book (Secret RecipesTM, Marysville, MI; June 1997, p. 44)
INGREDIENTS:
3½ cups flour
1 cup corn meal
4 cups corn flakes, [crushed] in fine crumbs
1 TB salt
7-oz can tuna fish packed in oil
1 can Underwood Liverwurst spread
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all of the above ingredients, as listed, into a dough, adding only enough water to it that it can be rolled out ¼” thick, like a cookie dough. Cut into strips and place close together on oiled baking sheet. Bake at 300°F for about an hour or until brittle, rather than baked.
Turn off heat but leave baking sheet in oven until well dried. Put strips into paper sack and break up with hammer into bits. Use as a supplement to your cat’s regular food, mixing it in equal parts. Makes about 2 pounds. Store, covered, at room temperature, to use in a few months.
(NOTE: If dough is too wet to roll out, add more flour to get it back to right texture to be baked.)
