In honor of TODAY, being National Heavenly Hash Day, here’s Mom’s secret recipe for “Heavenly Hash”; as seen in her self-published cookbook, Gloria Pitzer’s Secret Fast Food Recipes [aka: Book 6] (Secret RecipesTM, St. Clair, MI; March 1985, p. 97). As always, I’m asking only for proper credit if you care to re-share it.

HEAVENLY HASH

INGREDIENTS:
2 boxes (3¾-oz each) instant Pistachio pudding
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups whole milk
10-oz maraschino cherries
4 cups miniature marshmallows
8½-oz can crushed pineapple, drained
2 cups broken pecans
1 cup flaked coconut
INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare… pudding, using… buttermilk [and] whole milk [until thick and smooth]. Fold [in the rest of the] ingredients as listed. Mix lightly to coat all ingredients in the pudding mixture. Refrigerate covered for several hours before serving. Makes 8 to 10 nice party-size servings.
