GRANNY SQUARE HAT

INGREDIENTS/ITEM NEEDS:

I hook, for large size

H hook, for medium size

G hook, for small size*

[*NOTE: FOR A CHILD’S HAT use E or F hook and 2- or 3-ply yarn.]

4-Ply yarn – 3 ½-oz skein or assorted colors

INSTRUCTIONS:

[Create] 5 squares of 5 rnds each**, which you SC together on outside, as shown [in illustration], first, to form a cross shape and then SC sides together and, finally, work 1 or 2 rows, as you like, of DC stitch around [bottom] edge.

[**NOTE: Last round of each square can be black or same color with other 4 rounds of various contrasting colors.]
