TRIANGLE GRANNY – Half of a Granny Square

Happy I Love Yarn Day!

TRIANGLE GRANNY – Half of a Granny Square

(For 3 Rounds)

By Gloria Pitzer, as seen in her self-published folder… Granny Square How To (Secret RecipesTM, St. Clair, MI; Fall 1986, p. 1).

[NOTE: As always, I’m asking only for proper credit if you care to share this.]

HOOK NEEDS (depending on size wanted):

Small size:        G-Hook

Medium size:    H-Hook

Large size:        I-Hook

INSTRUCTIONS (see abbreviations, pictured above, for reference):

With required hook, chain 3 and connect into a ring. Then chain 3 for 1st stitch of round. DC 5 sts into center of ring. Chain 3 and turn work [for 2nd round]. DC 2 sts into next space and skip 2 sts. Work 6 DC sts into the next space. Skip 2 stitches. Work 3 DC sts in last space.

Chain 3 for the first stitch of 3rd round. Turn work and put 2 DC stitches into the next space. Skip 2 stitches. Work 3 DC [sts] in the next space. Skip 3 sts and do 6 DC sts in that space. Skip 3 sts. Do 3 DC sts in that space. Skip 2 sts and work 3 DC in last space, between the last 2 sts of round. Bind off, leaving a 5-inch tail.

This makes a 3-round triangle. To make triangles of more rounds, continue in the same manner as described until you achieve the desired number of rounds.
