Kids’ Summer Break Recipes – Pseudo Pizza

Kids’ Summer Break Recipes – Pseudo Pizza

By Gloria Pitzer, as seen in… “When the Kids Take Over the Kitchen”, National Home News Magazine (National Home News, St. Clair, MI; Circa 1979–1980, p. 11).

INGREDIENTS:

2 tubes (10-oz each) refrigerated biscuits

2 cans (4-oz each) tomato sauce

Oregano

Dry minced onion

Parmesan cheese

Garlic salt

Mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced

[Optional additions, to taste:] pepperoni stick (frozen then thinly sliced), chopped green pepper, canned mushrooms, diced cooked ham, bacon bits

1 cup crunchy style peanut butter

INSTRUCTIONS:

Grease a jelly roll pan or cookie sheet. Separate biscuits and pat out to cover bottom and sides of pan, evenly. Spread with tomato sauce. Sprinkle evenly with oregano, dry minced onion, and parmesan cheese. Add sparingly dashes of garlic salt.

Arrange thin slices of mozzarella over this. Slice a stick of frozen (slices better this way) pepperoni very thin. Add chopped green pepper if that’s your bag. Or canned mushrooms, diced cooked ham, bacon bits – or forget everything after it says “mozzarella” and melt… peanut butter [in a double boiler] over hot water until you can pour it and drizzle it over the mozzarella. Bake at 450°F about 15 minutes.
