SIMMERING POTPOURRI

SIMMERING POTPOURRI

By Gloria Pitzer, as seen in… Make Alike Recipes (Secret RecipesTM, St. Clair, MI; Oct. 1991, p. 65).

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups water

2 TB cinnamon

1 TB apple spice

1 TB ground allspice

1 tsp ground cloves

Citrus peels from an orange and/or lemon

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a small skillet or saucepan, combine water, cinnamon, spices, and cloves. Throw in citrus peels to enhance the fragrance. Let it simmer gently, on back burner of stove… Or use a “Crock Pot” to simmer… Replace water as needed…

Let the mixture stand at room temperature, when not being heated. You can re-use it over and over again, adding fresh spices and water to revitalize it.
